Advice From Experienced Bankruptcy Attorneys

If you're struggling financially with credit card debt or other bills that seem overwhelming, or if the current economy has resulted in a sudden job loss, it might be time to consider bankruptcy help from Pratt & Wall.

It may be that you can get a “fresh start” by filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. You need to talk with an experienced bankruptcy lawyer who can provide you with solid legal advice.

Decades of Experience

For more than two decades, the attorneys at Pratt & Wall have provided honest and candid counsel to clients who have questions about bankruptcy in Georgia. Our attorneys have accounting and tax backgrounds and are very experienced in helping you decide if bankruptcy is the right choice for you.

We will work hard to help you find the quickest and most cost-effective solution to move forward. We will take the time to understand your financial situation. Then we will explain your options with Chapter 7 bankruptcy, including the filing requirements, the time involved, and when you can expect some relief.

Is Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Right for You?

If you do not own a significant amount of property but owe a lot of unsecured debt (including credit card debts or medical bills) and just need a fresh financial start, Chapter 7 may be the right type of bankruptcy for you. Chapter 7 may also be appropriate if your finances have been devastated by medical bills, job loss, or divorce.

In order to file Chapter 7, your household income should be below the median for a family of your size in Georgia. If your income is higher than the median, then our attorney will put your budget through what is known as a "means test" to see if you are eligible for Chapter 7.

Preserving Ownership of Your Home

Foreclosure is the process in which a bank takes title to real estate from the owner to satisfy a debt. If you've become behind in your mortgage payments as part of your challenges with debt, it's possible your mortgage company could begin foreclosure proceedings against you.

Pratt & Wall frequently helps bankruptcy clients preserve their ownership of their homes. Our firm knows federal and state bankruptcy provisions and can provide you with sensible, candid advice about your financial options.
